In 2001 The New Belmont opened, an idea realized by two friends, Richard Katz and David Filipowski, who wanted a place to eat great steaks and drink fine wine. But as time and appetites change so did our menu. Our award winning Low & Slow Texas style BBQ demanded a new name . . . The Belmont House of Smoke.
Belmont House of Smoke has competed in numerous BBQ competitions proudly winning coveted trophies and titles thus putting us on the map as one of the best places to get great Q. In addition to serving up finger lickin’ good food at the restaurant, Belmont takes their smokers and pit crew on the road and can be found vending at local festivals as well as catering Pig Pickin’s and casual get-togethers.
Although there are more ways than ever to get your hands on this southern staple, locals still enjoy coming in to see us, catching a drink with Dave and Rich while discovering musical talents of local artists.
Check out what our families, friends and reviewers have to say about us:
This place is phenomenal. I honestly would eat here every day. The BBQ is cooked on point, the greens are the bomb along with the catfish. I look at the menu and have a hard time deciding what I want because I’m sure it’s all delicious. The beer can chicken…. wow, enough said. I see this place being a replacement for my spot back home.
This place is so SATISFYING and tasty. They give really good portions as well. I had the pick 2 meal with ribs, pulled pork, Mac and cheese, and greens. I can’t complain about anything. The best part for me is trying the 6 different bbq sauces and deciding on the perfect one. I come here every couple of months and I’m never disappointed.
Two words … The Best! First time I went to a restaurant and had some ribs that did not require any sauce…delicious, melt in your mouth, and a little taste of heaven. I had the dry rub of course. Need I say more? Plus with the multiple options of sauces makes every bite a new experience. As far as I’m concerned there isn’t any place in VA, that’s right…the entire state that does barbecue like you guys do.
I hadn’t been to Belmont in ages. Went tonight for the Hope House Appreciation Dinner. Indy was our server. she was very attentive and friendly. The food was on point. I will be returning with friends and family.
Recently held a rehearsal dinner at this establishment. It could not have gone any better. Working with Jennifer and her team was great and they made everything so easy. The food was superb and the service unbelievable. You could not go anywhere with an empty hand or glass without them being right there to see if they could get you another drink. The food display was very professional and spread out efficiently. I highly recommend this place for any type of private party. The upstairs easily handled our crowd of about 90 adults.
Came here for the first time and we will be back (maybe even tomorrow for Wednesday’s $0.39 wing night!)!! Everything was delicious! The burnt ends, Mac and cheese and hush puppies were my favorites. But I also enjoyed the pulled pork and the cornbread! Happy hour until 7, dollar off beers, wines and well drinks. Can’t wait to try more of the menu!
I’ve lived in North Carolina, Kansas and Texas so I think I’ve been exposed to some of the best BBQ this country has to offer – and Belmont House of Smoke rates at the top of the list for great BBQ! Currently, they have a great all-you-can-eat rib special on Tuesday nights and a wing special on Wednesday nights. You can’t go wrong with either! Great location in Ghent, plenty of free parking and great food and service. I’m very impressed and had to write a 5 star review of one of the best places to eat in Norfolk!
